So Full I Could Burst

A Note from the Director

Dear Audiences:
We miss you. You don't need me to tell you how different things are; we are all living it every moment. Instead I will tell you how we are adapting. The first production by Denison's Department of Theatre was So Full I Could Burst an outdoor walking experience based on the poetry of Imani Congdon, Denison '20. We restricted our audience size to 12 people and performed the show nine times (three times a night for three nights). A little over 100 Denison residential students and faculty and staff viewed the performance live, walking all around the Eisner Center and the Arts Quad with shows at 6:30pm, 7:15pm, and 8pm.

There in the live performances we felt the air on our masked faces and the ground under our feet, we smelled the fresh cut grass and the waft of flowers, we heard the cars on broadway and crickets as underscoring to Imani's incredible poetry, and we saw the planned performances as well as the unplanned, including appearances by pedestrians, deer, super cute dogs, and angry squirrels throwing nuts.

While we could not welcome you to campus to watch in person with those 100 audience members due to COVID precautions, we are pleased to be able to invite you to view the recording made on Thursday, September 23, 2020 at the 7:15 showing. Please watch and enjoy. And then perhaps take a walk outside in your own environment. Notice the sights and smells and sounds and all the small delights and pains of really being present in your environment. Feel them, breath in and out, and then let them go.
